The case of Pinar Selek is a scandal which endangers the hopeful process of improving Turkish-European relations. As a lover of Turkey and an admirer of what is best in Turkish culture I fell obliged to protest as forcefully as possible against the unjustified and unjustifiable menace to a distinguished writer and academic and a brave women whose critical voice should be the pride of modern Turkey.
