I am in Istanbul today to express my solidarity with Pinar SELEK

The trial of Pinar Selek is an additional episode in a tragic saga during which she has been put in prison during 2 years without any justification and is now standing before the Supreme Court of Appeal’s Grand Chamber without any serious evidence, being charged of having placed a bomb in the Bazaar in Istanbul despite multiple reports which have attributed the explosion to a gas leak.

And now, she is facing life imprisonment!

What people in Turkey and abroad know about Pinar Selek is that she has always fought for the rights or the minorities and that she is a well-known feminist activist.

This trial will be a test of Turkey’s respect of hits commitments to he rule of law and its commitments to Human rights.
